Wren Super is the superannuation
unit of Wren Investment Advisers, a Melbourne-based
accounting and financial services firm that has
been operating since May 1999.
After focusing primarily on investment advice
in our early years, we came to the view that many
self managed super funds were being over-charged
and under-serviced by their professional advisers.
While running a self-managed
fund comes with a range of important responsibilities,
it is not as onerous as many experts would
have you believe. Often the complexity of
running a SMSF is used as an excuse to charge
excessively high fees or keep you from moving
your investments into a structure that gives
you more control.
What sets us apart
from other superannuation services?
First, we can provide a complete service.
There are three key elements in running
a self managed super fund - compliance,
administration and investments.
- Compliance:
Many accountants can help you with the
compliance aspects such as preparing the
accounts and lodging your tax return but
most aren't licensed to provide you with
financial advice. Those that are licensed
will usually suggest putting your money
into managed funds and are not really
experts in investment markets.
- Administration:
This overlaps with the compliance function
but essentially involves managing and
accounting for the fund's investments
and member accounts.
- Investments: All
superannuation funds are required to have
and comply with an investment strategy.
Some financial planners can help you with
this but most are geared towards selling
you managed products rather than shares
and direct property. Wren Super can provide
you with access to research and advisers
who have worked in financial markets for
many years and can give you real world
advice on how to invest your superannuation
portfolio.
Second, we have
our own AFS Licence. Wren Super is part
of Wren Research Pty Ltd, which has its
own Australian Financial Services
Licence. Because we are not aligned with
any financial product provider, we can therefore
work with you in an open way to find solutions
that really meet your financial objectives,
needs and circumstances.
Third, we do our own investment research.
Wren Research publishes a wide range of
research, surveys and analysis of financial
markets. This information is exclusive to
our clients.
And finally, we're professional. We're
a CPA Australia practice and are committed
to upholding the highest ethical and professional
standards.
